E. KY Coal Co. Rewarding Employees With Gas Cards
WYMT TV News
Employees at Sapphire Coal Company get a twenty dollar gas card every day they meet their production goal and without injuries.
They work as a team, so when the goals are met everyone on the team receives a gas card.
Managers say it's an incentive for the miners to stay safe, be productive, and work together.
“I think it's been beneficial. I think it's helped us in production and helped certainly some of the employees buy gas lately with the price being what it is,” says Andy Fields of Sapphire Coal Company.
The gas cards are for stations owned by Childers Oil Company. Sales managers there say Sapphire Coal Company has bought more than $50,000 dollars worth of gas cards just since the program started in June.
Sapphire Coal Company is also doing an attendance incentive program to help with production. Workers get a bonus check with that program.
